Establish an AI Inquiry

A Senate inquiry into the need for stronger Australian laws to protect individuals, families, businesses and democracy from the harms of artificial intelligence.

The inquiry will examine risks including AI-enabled fraud and scams, deepfakes and impersonation, privacy violations, discrimination, misinformation, exploitation of children, workplace impacts and interference with democratic processes.

It will recommend legislation requiring greater transparency, accountability and human oversight of AI, protecting Australians from misuse and ensuring those who develop or deploy harmful AI are held responsible.
